Year 6

Welcome to Year 6

Class Teacher - Ms Malley

Throughout the year we aim to get our children ‘secondary ready’; we do this by encouraging the children to be as independent as possible. Above all else, we endeavour to ensure our children have an extremely enjoyable final year at primary before we bid them a fond farewell.

School Day and Times

The school gates open at 8:45 with the school day officially starting at 8:55.

Playtime 10:30 - 10:45

Lunch 12:15 - 1:15

School Finishes 3:15

P.E

Times for P.E vary throughout the year; children will be informed when their P.E lessons will be before breaking up for each half term. Children are expected to always have their P.E kits in school. Kits are taken home on the last day before a holiday and are expected to be returned on the first day back.

Homework Expectations

Reading - Children should read at least five times a week and this should be recorded in their Home/School Diary.

Spelling - Children should learn the spellings that have been set in their Home/School Diary.

Bedrock - Children should complete at least two Bedrock lessons per week.

Maths - Children should continue to practise times tables at home until they have mastered all times tables facts (up to 12 x 12); they can do so using Times Tables Rocskstars. Children also have access to online maths games on the activelearn website which should be accessed on a weekly basis.

In addition to the above weekly homework, children should complete at least one piece of topic homework per half term and complete any additional written maths and English homework that may be given during the first week of each half term.
