Getting to know your child

To help us learn about your child don't forget to bring their special brown bag from their welcome pack and put in a few things to help us learn about the activities your child enjoys . You can also add photographs of family too.

Stories and Rhymes

Your child will enjoy many stories at school and each week you will be able to look at the stories on our video blog to share at home. We will be learning new rhymes each week which I will put on our class page. Our story for our first two weeks will be all about Goldilocks and the Three Bears please share this story at home in preparation of our learning . We will also be reading "Where's Spot?" throughout your child's first week.

Our first week of learning in FS1

I am so delighted how the children have settled this week at School. The children have grown in confidence daily coming through those big gates for the first time . Well done to all the parents and carers for preparing your children for the start of their journey at St.Marys.
We have had such a busy week and will add photographs and class stories to the Class Dojo weekly as well as points and rewards for super learning. The children have enjoyed learning in our indoor and outdoor environments. We will using the photographs of our families in our class activities so please continue to bring them into school. We have already been very busy creating self portraits of ourselves.

Letters and Sounds

In Foundation One we will introduce the children to Phase One of Letters and Sounds which concentrates on developing children's speaking and listening skills . The emphasis during Phase One is to get children attuned to the sounds around them and ready to begin developing oral blending and segmenting skills.

Phase One is divided into seven aspects. Each aspect contains three strands: Tuning into sounds, Listening and remembering sounds and talking about sounds.

Each week the children will take part in activities which will be added to the class page.

 Nursery Scheme of Learning

The children will begin with our first topic of : recognising and naming colours. Please encourage your child to name and recognise colours in a variety of context e.g. toys at home, out shopping , colours of clothes etc. We will also be counting daily, singing counting songs and maths games. We will be incorporating maths through daily routines and in continuous provision.

Getting to know your child

Please remember to bring back to school the ‘pupil profile’ and any other outstanding forms needed by school . Class Dojo will be operational as soon as we have collected all of your details .
