Year 5

    Welcome to Year 5

Year 5 is an exciting beginning to upper-key stage two when our children are given opportunities to take on increasingly more responsibility. During Year 5, many parents and pupils begin to think about their secondary school choices and often pupils are beginning to gain in independence, which is something we promote.

School Day and Times

The school gates open at 8:45 with the school day officially starting at 8:55.

Morning Break 10:30 - 10:45am.

Lunch 12:15 - 1:15pm.

End of the school day 3:15pm.

Pupils should be met by parents/guardians on the school playground at home time, which is 3.15pm (unless parental permission for children to go home alone has been communicated to the teacher)

P.E

P.E. days vary throughout the year as we are fortunate enough to have PE specialist teachers and Activ Regen leading some of our PE lessons. PE kits should be brought to school on the first day of every half term and taken home on the last day. A full PE kit is expected. (Please see the uniform page for further information.)  is on Monday and Wednesday during Spring 2 term.

Homework

Reading - Children should read at least three times a week and this should be recorded in their Reading Record. Pupils will receive a ClassDojo each time they read.

Maths - Children should continue to practise times tables at home until they have mastered all times table’s facts including division facts (up to 12 x 12); they can do so using Times Tables Rock Stars.

In addition to the above weekly homework, children should complete at least one piece of topic homework per half term. The list is sent home at the beginning of each half term and is linked at the bottom of this page. This will be celebrated in the half-termly Home Learning Assembly.
