Welcome to Year 6!
What a fantastic start to Year 6, we've had! The children have come back to school looking extremely smart in their new uniforms and have got straight back into working. We started off our topic, Blood Heart, with a non-uniform day, coming dressed as medical professionals, hospital patients or just wearing the colours red and blue. We created poems about the heart, found out relevant information about it before having a surprise in the afternoon - dissecting a sheep's heart! Looking at sheep's heart helped us to identify the parts of the heart and imagine how our heart works. The children were enthusiastic and interested, asking relevant questions and behaving sensibly when given the chance to hold the heart.
Well, GIG day at St. Bernard's was a fantastic opportunity for our children to meet new friends and learn new skills. It was based on Saints, and all the activities were planned around helping us to understand more about Saints; what they did, how they helped people and how we could become more 'saintly' !! Although, everyone worked hard in their groups, a special mention needs to go to Reilly, who was noticed by the Year 9 helpers, for outstanding effort within his group - well done Reilly . Thank you also to all parents for sending your children looking so smart - all the teachers at St. Bernard's mentioned how smart our children looked in their new uniform
